Nova Scotia is more affordable than Toronto or Vancouver, but planning still matters. Housing takes the biggest share of your cost of living, whether you rent or buy, and outside Halifax both cost noticeably less. Then come groceries, winter heating, a car and insurance, plus phone and internet. Add taxes and the one-time settling costs, and you have a realistic monthly picture.
